ice fall
Frozen cascade zone
A section of a glacier where the ice flows over a steep drop, fracturing into a chaotic jumble of crevasses and towering ice blocks called seracs.
Ice falls are among the most dangerous parts of a climbing route: The Khumbu Icefall is the deadliest stretch on Everest.
The term also describes a frozen waterfall or a falling mass of ice from a glacier face.
