beer league
Weekend warrior circuit
A beer league is a recreational sports league for amateurs, typically adults who play for fun rather than competition.
The name suggests players might drink beer after games—or during them.
The term implies low stakes and modest skill levels: It's just beer league hockey, nobody's going pro.
Common in hockey, softball, and basketball.
