hosanna
Cry of adoration
Hosanna is a cry of praise or adoration, originally from Hebrew meaning "save us." In Christian and Jewish worship, it appears in hymns and liturgy, especially during Palm Sunday celebrations commemorating Jesus's entry into Jerusalem: Hosanna in the highest!
Outside religious contexts, hosanna describes any fervent expression of praise or acclamation: The crowd greeted the returning hero with hosannas.
