hoots

Nocturnal bird sounds

Hoots are the calls owls make, and by extension any similar sound—a horn's blast, a person's shout of laughter or derision.

If you don't give a hoot or two hoots about something, you don't care about it at all.

In Scottish and Northern English dialect, hoot can express impatience or dissatisfaction, often reduplicated: Hoot, hoot! What nonsense!

As slang, hoots sometimes refers to a woman's breasts.
