home port
Vessel's registered harbor
A home port is where a ship is registered or permanently based—its official harbor of origin.
For naval vessels, it's the base where the ship returns between deployments: The carrier's home port is San Diego.
For cruise ships, it's the port where voyages begin and end.
Figuratively, any place serving as a regular base of operations: After years of touring, Nashville became her home port.
