home computer
Residential computing device
A home computer is a personal computer designed for household use rather than business or institutional settings.
The term was prominent in the 1980s when machines like the Commodore 64 and Apple II brought computing into living rooms for the first time: We got our first home computer when I was twelve.
Now largely replaced by the general term personal computer, since the distinction between home and office machines has blurred.
