hitmarker
Shot landed signal
A hitmarker is the visual or audio cue in video games indicating your shot has connected with an enemy—typically a small X or crosshair flash, often accompanied by a distinctive sound.
The term comes from first-person shooters where confirming hits matters: I heard the hitmarker but he didn't go down.
Getting hitmarkers without kills suggests the enemy has armor or you're not landing headshots.
