heathenry

Non-Christian folk religion

Heathenry is the practice or condition of being a heathen—that is, someone who follows a non-Abrahamic religion or, historically, someone considered uncivilized by Christian standards.

In contemporary use, heathenry most often refers specifically to modern pagan religious movements that reconstruct or revive pre-Christian Germanic, Norse, or Anglo-Saxon spiritual traditions.

Practitioners may call their faith heathenry rather than paganism to emphasize its distinct cultural roots.
