Heimdall

Guardian of Bifrost

Heimdall is the watchman god in Norse mythology, guardian of Bifrost—the rainbow bridge connecting the realm of humans to Asgard, home of the gods.

He possesses extraordinary senses: hearing grass grow, seeing for hundreds of miles, requiring less sleep than a bird.

At Ragnarök, the prophesied end of the world, Heimdall will sound his horn Gjallarhorn to summon the gods to their final battle.

The name appears in modern fantasy and gaming contexts, often for vigilant or protective characters.
