hardstands
Aircraft parking surfaces
Hardstands are paved or reinforced surfaces for parking aircraft, heavy vehicles, or equipment.
The term comes from military and aviation use, where aircraft need firm ground that won't turn to mud: The jets were lined up on the hardstand.
The singular hardstand refers to one such area, while hardstands may describe multiple parking spots or the surface generally.
