harddrive
Computer's filing cabinet
A hard drive is a computer storage device that retains data magnetically on spinning metal platters.
For decades the primary storage medium in personal computers, hard drives have been largely displaced by solid-state drives, which are faster and have no moving parts.
The term persists loosely for any internal storage: My hard drive is almost full.
Also spelled hard drive.
