harbour seals

Coastal bay mammals

Harbour seals are small, spotted seals found along temperate and Arctic coastlines of the Northern Hemisphere.

They haul out on rocks, sandbars, and beaches, preferring sheltered waters—harbours, estuaries, and bays.

The spelling harbour is British; Americans write harbor seals.

We watched the harbour seals sunning themselves on the rocks.
