handrope
Rope for holding
A handrope is a rope serving as a handrail or handhold, typically along a gangway, ladder, or steep passage on a ship or in mountaineering.
It provides something to grip for balance or safety where a rigid railing isn't practical: Hold the handrope as you descend.
