handcycling
Cranking wheelchair sport
Handcycling is a form of cycling where the rider powers the vehicle using arm cranks rather than foot pedals.
It developed primarily as a competitive sport and recreational activity for people with lower-limb disabilities, and handcycles are now a standard category in Paralympic cycling events.
The bikes typically have three wheels for stability, with the rider either sitting upright or in a recumbent position.
She took up handcycling after her spinal cord injury.
