countersteer

Turn against skid

Countersteer is a driving technique where you turn the steering wheel in the direction opposite to a skid or in the direction you want the car to go during a drift.

When a vehicle's rear end slides out, the driver countersteers to regain control: The back end broke loose and he countersteered into the slide.

Essential in racing, rally driving, and recovering from oversteer on slippery roads.
