hand flapping
Excited arm movement
Hand flapping is a repetitive movement where someone rapidly waves their hands at the wrist, often with fingers spread.
It's a common form of self-stimulation (stimming) among autistic people, typically expressing excitement, anxiety, or sensory regulation.
In children generally, it may appear during moments of high emotion: She was hand flapping with excitement when she saw the presents.
