halfway line
Pitch's central boundary
The halfway line is the line marking the center of a playing field, dividing it into two equal halves.
In soccer, players must be on their own side of the halfway line at kickoff, and the offside rule only applies in the opponent's half: The striker was caught offside just past the halfway line.
