half-moons
Fingernail base shapes
Half-moons are crescent shapes—the curved sliver of the moon when partially illuminated.
The term extends to anything with that shape: the pale half-moons at the base of fingernails, half-moon spectacles worn low on the nose for reading, or decorative half-moon windows above doors.
She peered over her half-moons at the document.
