A sea gull is a gull—any of the gray-and-white seabirds common along coastlines and inland waterways.
Though widely used, *seagull* is technically redundant since gulls are already associated with the sea.
The birds are known for scavenging, stealing food, and their raucous calls: Sea gulls circled the fishing boat.
