gull wing
DeLorean door style
A gull wing is a door hinged at the roof rather than the side, opening upward like a bird's extended wing.
Most associated with the Mercedes-Benz 300SL and the DeLorean, gull-wing doors appear on sports cars where they solve entry problems in low, wide vehicles: The gull wings made getting in easier than a conventional door would have.
