Countertop pressing appliance
A griddler is a cooking appliance with ridged plates that press and grill food from both sides simultaneously—essentially a countertop grill that closes like a waffle iron.
The ridges create characteristic grill marks on sandwiches, meats, and vegetables: I made paninis on the griddler.
The term is sometimes used interchangeably with panini press.
