grain dust
Harvest air hazard
Grain dust is the fine particles released when grain is handled, processed, or transported.
It consists of broken kernels, plant material, soil, and microorganisms.
Grain dust poses serious hazards: it can cause respiratory problems with prolonged exposure, and when suspended in air at certain concentrations, it becomes explosive—grain elevator explosions have killed workers throughout industrial history.
