giantism
Abnormal size condition
Giantism is abnormal growth resulting in unusually large size.
In medicine, it specifically refers to excessive height caused by overproduction of growth hormone during childhood, before the growth plates close.
The term also describes any condition producing organisms of extraordinary size: giantism in deep-sea species.
More commonly spelled gigantism.
