garrotting
Wire around throat
Garrotting is killing or attacking someone by strangling them with a cord, wire, or other ligature tightened around the neck.
Historically, the garrotte was an execution device—a metal collar tightened by a screw.
The word now typically describes strangulation attacks, especially from behind: The victim was garrotted with a length of piano wire.
Also spelled garroting.
