fuhrers
Absolute authoritarian rulers
Fuhrers is the plural of fuhrer, the German word for leader.
The term is indelibly associated with Adolf Hitler, who styled himself der Führer—the leader—of Nazi Germany.
Outside historical contexts, fuhrer typically appears as an insult comparing someone to Hitler: The little fuhrers who run homeowners associations.
Also spelled führers.
