friction fit
Held by tightness
A friction fit is a connection between two parts held together by pressure rather than fasteners, adhesives, or welding.
The parts are sized so one presses tightly against the other: The lid stays on by friction fit.
Also called interference fit or press fit.
Common in woodworking, plumbing, and manufacturing where removability or simplicity matters.
