fly line
Angler's weighted line
A fly line is the weighted line used in fly fishing, distinct from conventional fishing line.
Its mass provides the momentum to cast the nearly weightless artificial fly.
Fly lines come in various weights and tapers matched to rod and fishing conditions: I need to replace my fly line—it's cracked and won't float anymore.
