frameset

Browser page sections

A frameset is an HTML element that divides a browser window into multiple frames, each displaying a separate document.

Common in 1990s web design, framesets allowed navigation menus to remain fixed while content scrolled independently: The site used a frameset with a sidebar and main content area.

Framesets are now obsolete, replaced by CSS layouts and modern techniques.
