football toss
Spiral through air
A football toss is a casual throw of an American football, typically back and forth between two people.
The phrase evokes informal play—in a backyard, on a beach, or before a game: We went out back to have a football toss.
The oblong shape of the ball makes tossing it a distinct skill from throwing other balls.
