push down
Press something downward
Push down means to press something toward a lower position or to force it below a surface.
You push down a lever to activate it, push down on someone's shoulders to keep them seated, or push down feelings to suppress them.
In computing, to push down is to add an item to the top of a stack, displacing what was there.
Push down on the lid until it clicks.
