fluorspar
Mineral yielding fluorine
Fluorspar is a mineral form of calcium fluoride, the principal ore from which fluorine is extracted.
It occurs in various colors and is used in steelmaking, aluminum production, and the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid.
Also called fluorite, especially when referring to specimens prized by mineral collectors for their cubic crystals and vibrant hues.
