fluorites

Colorful cubic crystals

Fluorites is the plural of fluorite, a mineral composed of calcium fluoride that forms cubic crystals in a range of colors—purple, green, blue, yellow, or colorless.

Prized by mineral collectors for its beauty and variety, fluorite is also used industrially as a flux in metallurgy and in producing hydrofluoric acid.

The museum displayed fluorites from mines around the world.
