firesale
Everything must go
A firesale is a sale of goods at drastically reduced prices, typically because a business is closing, liquidating inventory, or facing financial distress.
The term originally referred to selling merchandise damaged by fire, but now describes any steep discounting driven by urgent need to convert assets to cash: The company held a firesale after declaring bankruptcy.
Also spelled fire sale.
