film strips
Cinema's physical medium
Film strips are lengths of photographic film containing a sequence of still images, designed to be projected one frame at a time.
Before digital technology, they were common educational tools in classrooms, often synchronized with audio recordings: The teacher threaded the film strip into the projector.
The format is now largely obsolete.
