fanvid
Homemade tribute clip
A fanvid is a video created by fans that edits together clips from movies, TV shows, or other media sources, usually set to music.
The practice emerged from fan communities and predates YouTube, though that platform became the primary home for fanvids.
Creators use editing to highlight relationships between characters, explore themes, or offer reinterpretations of source material.
She spent weeks making a fanvid for her favorite show.
The term is sometimes shortened to vid in fan circles.
