fan fic
Amateur spinoff writing
Fan fic is fiction written by fans using characters, settings, or worlds from existing media—books, TV shows, movies, video games.
The stories are typically shared online rather than published commercially: She writes fan fic about Harry Potter characters.
Fan fic ranges from faithful extensions of canon to wildly divergent reimaginings.
Also written as one word: fanfic.
