missing scene
Cut story moment
A missing scene is a piece of fan fiction that fills a gap in the original narrative—depicting events that happened offscreen or between chapters.
Writers create missing scenes to explore character moments the source material skipped: The fic is a missing scene showing what happened after they left the hospital.
The term implies the scene *should* have existed, treating fan-created content as restoring something absent rather than adding something new.
