eye twitch
Involuntary eyelid spasm
An eye twitch is an involuntary spasm of the eyelid muscles, usually brief and repetitive.
Most twitches are harmless, triggered by stress, fatigue, or caffeine: My eye twitch always acts up during finals week.
The phenomenon is common enough that people attribute it to superstition—in some cultures, a twitching left eye means bad luck.
