exsanguinating
Losing all blood
Exsanguinating means draining of blood, or bleeding out.
The term appears most often in medical contexts describing severe hemorrhage: The patient was exsanguinating from a ruptured aorta.
It can also describe deliberate blood removal, as in slaughter or embalming.
Figuratively, exsanguinating suggests draining vitality or resources completely.
