epees

Duelist's sporting weapons

Epees is the plural of epee, a fencing sword with a rigid, tapered blade and a large bell-shaped guard protecting the hand.

Unlike foils and sabres, epees allow touches on any part of the body.

The word comes from French for sword.

The fencers selected their epees from the rack.
