qubit

Entangled information unit

A qubit is the basic unit of information in quantum computing, analogous to the bit in classical computing.

While a classical bit holds either 0 or 1, a qubit can exist in a superposition of both states simultaneously until measured.

This property, along with entanglement between qubits, enables quantum computers to perform certain calculations exponentially faster than classical machines.
