emotional detachment
Numbness toward others
Emotional detachment describes a state of being disconnected from one's own feelings or from the feelings of others.
It can be a deliberate coping mechanism—a way to protect oneself from overwhelming situations or toxic relationships—or it can be an involuntary symptom of depression, trauma, or certain personality disorders.
Someone with emotional detachment may seem distant, unresponsive, or indifferent to events that would normally provoke strong reactions.
