emergency line
Call for help
An emergency line is a telephone number designated for urgent situations requiring immediate assistance—police, fire, ambulance.
In the US, this is 911; in the UK, 999.
The term also applies to dedicated hotlines for specific crises: Call the emergency line if you smell gas.
Can refer to the physical telephone connection itself or the service it reaches.
