election day
Voters' designated date
Election day is any day on which a vote is held—for government offices, union leadership, or organizational decisions.
The phrase is often generic, referring to whatever day voting happens to fall on: I always take off work on election day. (Capitalized Election Day refers specifically to the U.S. federal election date.)
