mail-in ballot
Posted voting form
A mail-in ballot is a voting ballot sent to voters by mail, completed at home, and returned by mail or dropbox rather than cast at a polling place.
The term became prominent during the 2020 U.S. presidential election when pandemic conditions expanded mail voting: I requested a mail-in ballot so I wouldn't have to wait in line.
Also called an absentee ballot, though some jurisdictions distinguish between the two.
