earthslides

Slopes giving way

Earthslides are downward movements of soil, rock, or debris along a slope, typically triggered by heavy rainfall, earthquakes, or erosion.

The term is less common than *landslide*, which covers the same phenomenon.

The heavy rains caused earthslides that blocked the mountain road.
