dyskinesia

Uncontrolled body motions

Dyskinesia is abnormal, involuntary movement—twitching, jerking, or writhing motions that a person cannot control.

The term appears most often in medical contexts, particularly as a side effect of long-term medication use: tardive dyskinesia from antipsychotic drugs, levodopa-induced dyskinesia in Parkinson's patients.

The movements may affect the face, limbs, or trunk.
