chorea
Jerky movement disorder
Chorea is a neurological condition characterized by involuntary, irregular, jerky movements that flow unpredictably from one body part to another.
The movements appear dance-like—the word comes from the Greek for dance.
Chorea occurs in various disorders, most notably Huntington's disease and historically in Sydenham's chorea, a complication of rheumatic fever once called St.
Vitus's dance.
