dust storms
Wind-driven dirt clouds
Dust storms are weather events in which strong winds lift loose soil and sand into the air, creating dense, fast-moving clouds that reduce visibility and can damage property.
They occur most often in arid regions during dry seasons: Dust storms swept across the plains during the Drought.
A particularly severe dust storm may be called a haboob.
