buffalo grass

Plains lawn covering

Buffalo grass is a low-growing, drought-resistant grass native to the North American Great Plains.

It thrives in dry conditions and poor soil, making it popular for lawns in arid regions where traditional turf grasses struggle: We switched to buffalo grass to cut down on watering.

The name comes from its historical role as forage for bison herds.
